VIN Structure
- Characters 1-3 (WMI): World Manufacturer Identifier — country of origin and manufacturer
- Characters 4-8: Vehicle attributes (line, series, body type, engine type)
- Character 9: Check digit (used to validate VIN)
- Character 10: Model year
- Character 11: Plant code
- Characters 12-17: Vehicle identifier section (unique serial number)
