Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2026-04-25

1. Information We Collect

Most GearVerify tools run entirely in your browser. GearVerify does not require an account, email address, or phone number to use MVP tools.

When you use a tool, your browser may send:

  • Vehicle identification numbers (VINs) entered for decoding or recall checking
  • OBD-II codes entered for lookup
  • Tire sizes, dimensions, and other calculator inputs
  • Basic browser information for tool functionality

This information is processed temporarily to generate tool results. It is not stored on GearVerify servers by default.

2. How We Use Information

Information you enter is used only to:

  • Generate tool results (decoded vehicle data, recall results, calculator outputs)
  • Display official source links for further verification
  • Optionally, collect anonymous aggregate usage data (e.g., which tools are used most) — disclosed separately if analytics are added

3. Data We Do Not Store

By default, GearVerify does not store:

  • Full VINs
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • License plate numbers
  • User-specific reports
  • Names or addresses

4. Cookies and Analytics

At MVP, GearVerify does not use tracking cookies. If display ads or analytics are added in the future, the privacy policy will be updated to disclose what data is collected, how it is used, and how to opt out.

5. Data Sharing

GearVerify does not sell, rent, or share user-entered information with third parties. GearVerify does not share full VINs, emails, phone numbers, or other sensitive inputs with advertising partners.

6. Data from Official Sources

Tool results are based on official public data from NHTSA, CPSC, FuelEconomy.gov, and other government agencies. This data belongs to those agencies. GearVerify does not claim ownership of any public data displayed through its tools.

7. Security

GearVerify uses HTTPS encryption. API calls to official government data sources use standard browser security. Sensitive inputs are not stored by default, reducing the risk of data exposure.

8. Children's Privacy

GearVerify tools may be used to check baby product and toy recalls. These tools do not collect information about children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through GearVerify, contact us and it will be removed.

9. Affiliate Links

When GearVerify includes affiliate links, this relationship will always be clearly disclosed. Affiliate links do not affect the privacy of your use of GearVerify tools.

10. Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated as GearVerify adds features. The effective date will be updated. Continued use of GearVerify after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact

For privacy-related questions, contact GearVerify through the Contact page.
