WebCam Optical & Sensor Audit

This optical verification tool audits the image quality and sensor health of any connected camera. Used webcams often suffer from scratched exterior glass or "hot pixels"β€”tiny permanent colorful dots on the sensor caused by heat or age. By analyzing a live feed, we measure the noise floor of the image, which tells you how much grain you will see in low-light conditions. This ensures you aren't overpaying for a camera with a degraded or low-quality sensor.

Look for edge-to-edge focal consistency; if the center is sharp but the corners are blurry, the internal lens might be misaligned. If the FPS counter fluctuates wildly, the internal processor is struggling to maintain a stable stream. High levels of "sensor noise" (moving static in the shadows) indicate a sensor that has been heavily used or poorly manufactured. If you see static colorful dots that don't move, the sensor is permanently damaged.
